Owner Profile

Rick Fischer has many years of business and senior care experience. What began as a marketing career helping organizations such as Mutual of Omaha and Travel & Transport moved to more rewarding and fulfilling work for Home Instead Senior Care, a homecare program.

Home Instead was the place Rick solidified his passion for helping seniors, besides his own family.  It was also the place he noticed the need for a reliable resource for seniors in the area of home modification and remodeling enabling them to age in place.

Noticing that need, Rick started Safe & Sound Home Modifications, LLC. Safe & Sound Home Modifications’ goal is to create safe homes for seniors and those with mobility challenges by identifying then adapting or removing hazardous conditions and barriers. The company also keeps homes functionally-sound by repairing and maintaining the property. One call is all that is needed for reliable, expert service – no matter the size of the project.

Rick has always had a passion for helping seniors including his late grandmother and now his own mother.  Even before starting Safe & Sound Home Modifications, Rick adapted the home allowing his grandmother to stay there for as long as possible. She lived in a safe, reliable home until the time her health dictated more custodial care that only a nurse-assisted living facility could provide.

Rick’s mother has a home that continues to evolve with more and more safety features. This technique is easy on the budget and does not overwhelm her.  This type of work allows the extended family to know mother’s home is safe, sound and maintained by a reliable resource.

Rick is dedicated to taking care of each of his clients like he takes care of his own family – safe, sound and reliable.

Rick is a Certified Senior Advisor. Professionals who are a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA)® agree to follow the CSA Code of Professional CSA LogoResponsibility based on the standards of competence, honesty, trustworthiness, fairness, and professionalism.

Rick is also a Certified Aging-In-Place Specialist (CAPS). This designation is provided by the National Home Builders Association and supported by the AARP.  He is well educated in all phases of identifying, building and remodeling for aging adults and people with disabilities. Rick is experienced in the strategies and techniques for designing and building aesthetically enriching, CAPS Logobarrier-free living environments. The CAPS designation goes beyond design to address the codes and standards, common remodeling expenditures and projects, product ideas, and resources needed to provide comprehensive and practical aging-in-place solutions.

Rick is married to Kris and they have two boys Mark and Jacob. They live in Omaha, Ne.
